Pat Darling spent the last 24 years of her life in the thick fog of Alzheimer's disease. She passed on in March 2012, just five days after her 90th birthday. Aquamarine is her birthstone and she was 'enchanted' with fairies and lily pads.

Extreme walks are the ultimate means by which we meet our goal. Geoffrey Darling will walk 2,400 miles on U.S. Rt 1, the historic highway from Key West, Florida to Ft. Kent, Maine beginning 17 March 2013 and ending Independence Day. Help us make this walk successful and help bring and end to Alzheimer's Disease by supporting the research, education and support services of the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org

Geoffrey's mother Pat was born on St. Patrick's day, March 17, and the birthstone for that day is aquamarine, Lynn Marie Jewelry is creating handcrafted aquamarine jewelry especially for Feet of Memory. We are establishing a Board of Remembrance where you may recognize your loved one(s) who walked through the thickening clouds of memory loss and Alzheimer's Disease. We will give you details on how you may honor them in the near future.

In the meantime, we hope it's a lovely day for you and that you will get out and take a walk! Geoffrey is out on the Towpath this morning keeping up his training for his extreme walk from Key West to Maine!
