Great day for a walk in the park

The weather has cooled and it's a great day for a long (12-mile) walk in the park. Geoffrey is up and at 'em and continuing his training. Watching the Olympics is a great motivator! People of all ages, but mostly the young, are competing in all kinds of sports - some I've never heard of - but their dedication and hard work got them to this world-class competition. On Sunday coming up, the marathon will help close out the events....Geoffrey will do many walking marathons over the 100+ days of his trek from Key West, Florida to Ft. Kent, Maine to raise money and awareness for research and support services for those with Alzheimer's Disease. It takes stamina, strong legs and willpower to sustain such an extreme walk.

But as we've noted before, nearly anyone can begin now to improve his or her own health and fitness by taking some first steps. Set small goals...trim off five pounds, walk, bike or run a mile by the end of the week, or next week. Build up a little more every day or two, until you meet that goal, then set a new one.
Tell us about your achievements!
